In response to requests for overnight to 3 night trips in the Deer Group, we now offer a fully guided custom trip to this sea kayaking destination. Just pick the number of nights and when you'd like to go. This trip is popular with people who want the best in the shortest amount of time.

Meet in Port Alberni: Vancouver Island, British Columbia @ 5pm on DAY 1.
If we meet you the morning DAY 2 at the start point in Tofino and you don't need accommodation on we'll reflect this on the quotation.

Depart Port Alberni: DAY 2, 8:00am .
Arrive at Tofino & Clayoquot Sound: 9:00am, load kayaks & start paddling

Kayak For: 2-4 days exploring Clayoquot Sound

Depart Tofino: 3pm on Final Day

Arrive in Port Alberni: 7pm on Final Day

Trip Ends: After showers on Final Day

The Deer Group is an island archipelago that starts at the east end of Barkley Sound and continues southwest to Bamfield, which is also the end of the West Coast Trail, the south section of Pacific Rim National Park. The paddling is more exposed than the Broken Group Islands as Imperial Eagle Channel is exposed to the open Pacific Ocean. The lee side of the islands offer protection however both sides can be enjoyed when the weather and sea state cooperate. Hidden beaches and sea arches are some of the gems of this quiet area.

Meet in Port Alberni: Vancouver Island, British Columbia @ 5pm on Saturday.

Depart Port Alberni: 8:00am Sunday morning on the MV Frances Barkley or MV Lady Rose.

Arrive at Tzartus Island: 10:30am, load kayaks & start paddling

Kayak For: 5 days exploring The Deer Group southwest to Bamfield

Depart Bamfield: 3pm on Thursday Arrive in Port Alberni: 6pm on Thursday, accommodation at B&B

Trip Ends: Friday morning after breakfast

Note: Saturday and Thursday dinner not included.
