One of our guests' favourite activities before or after their adventure with us is going fishing for salmon. The Alberni Inlet is world famous as one of the most productive fishing habitats in the world. Multiple species of salmon make their way up the inlet each year and then into the myriad of rivers, creeks and streams that characterize the Alberni Valley. The salmon that we serve on our trips are from the Alberni Inlet and Barkley Sound.
We've teamed up with Slivers Charters of Port Alberni to offer our guests an exceptional half or full day of fishing. We like Slivers because of their professionalism and the fact that they are insured.
Each Batstar/Slivers trip goes out with Batstar's West Coast blend coffee from our coffee and tea bar.

We're located in Port Alberni on Highway 4 - the Pacific Rim Highway. Across the road is Clutesi Marina, where fishing boats are launched to go out the Alberni Inlet to the open Pacific Ocean. Some of our sea kayaking day trips start from here. We rent Seaward sea kayaks and Rocky Mountain Bicycles. Shuttle service for Log Train Trail.
Batstar is surrounded by walking trails along the Somass River and the paved trails along Kitsuksis Dyke. This is all part of an estuary where you can see all sorts of bird life and the occasional Black Bear. 5 species of Salmon swim in the Somass. Grab lunch from Batstar Cafe & Picnic and sit on the benches and relax by the river.
