Clayoquot Sound, Sea Kayaking Day Trip
Clayoquot Sound is a magical place of ocean, beaches & scenery. We take you paddling to find ancient trees, sandy beaches and views of the open Pacific Ocean. One of the highlights of trip is being in area where the First Nations prescense is strong. We paddle in traditional waters and our knowledgeable guides will help you discover the history of the area. You'll also have an opportunity to check out some of the funky stores and art galleries in Tofino.
Meet in Port Alberni: Public Parking lot on Beaver Creek Road and River Road, Vancouver Island, British Columbia @ 7:00 am
Depart to Tofino: Batstar 15 Passenger Van to Tofino, rest breaks along the way
Arrive at Government dock at 9:00 am
Kayak For: 5-6 hours exploring the Pacific Ocean waters of Clayoquot Sound including the Big Tree Trail on Mears Island.
Trip Ends: 4:00 pm, Tofino Government Dock. You can wander around and check out the shops and art galleries in the area.
We arrive back in Port Alberni at approximately 7:00 pm
Food: Snacks on the road to and from Tofino. Delicious gourmet lunch on a beach in Clayoquot Sound. We can accommodate food intolerances and allergies. Please alert us when you book. We have group tarps if it rains.
Special Local Treats: For the ride home, we usually supplement our snack bag with some treats from a great local establishment like SOBO Fresh Food From Here and There, The Common Loaf or Breakers Fresh Food Cafe.
Beverages: Water. Hot Water. Specialty arabica coffee. An assortment of premium teas. Juice.
Clothing: You are entering a marine environment in the Pacific Temperate Rainforest. Dress for paddling and bring a change of clothes. We supply a dry bag. Bring waterproof jacket & pants. Fleece jacket. Rainproof hat or hood. Wear rubber boots, water shoes, or old running shoes. Bring a spare shoes, leave in van. No Cotton! We will send you a gear list when you sign up.
Who Can Go? Novices and up. We'll give you an orientation to the sea kayaking gear and a safety talk. Kids - we are a family business and have priced our kids fees to help families have a fantastic day. Kids must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, or have contacted us prior to the trip to arrange waivers.
Customize Your Trip: If you book this entire trip, from 1-10 people, we can do some sea kayak training including chart reading, weather, paddling skills, packing a sea kayak for an expedition, etc. Call us to discuss your interests.
