Sea Kayak Tours for All Abilities
For beginners kayaking on Vancouver Island, we recommend
the Broken Group Islands or the Gulf Islands. The Broken
Group Islands are part of Pacific Rim National Park, and
are largely undeveloped, with rich natural west coast rain
forests and beaches. Our trips to the Broken Group Islands
include deluxe camping and are either 6 or 7 days.
The Gulf Islands are more inhabited than the Broken Group
Islands, and as a result the scenery is more pastoral and
cottage like. Our Gulf Island trips are 2 or 3 day B&B
based trips, in March, April and May.
For more advanced sea kayak trips on Vancouver Island,
we recommend the Deer Group or Clayoquot Sound. Both trips
include camping, and allow us to discover some breathtaking
west coast wilderness settings. If you have at least one
multiday sea kayaking trip before, you are likely comfortable
enough in a kayak to come on one of these trips.
If you are interested in kayaking and whale watching BC,
your best chance is with a trip with us to the Johnstone
Strait. The orcas in this area are world famous, and awe
inspiring when seen from a kayak. No previous sea kayaking
experience is needed for our Johnstone Strait trips. They
depart weekly in September, once the summer boat traffic
in the area has subsided.
There are some wonderful destinations for sea kayaking
on Vancouver Island, and we invite you to discover them
with us on one of our fully guided trips.
