Gourmet Food

Sitting on a drift log on a beach enjoying a delicious meal is one of the great pleasures of sea kayak touring. Our meals are part of your vacation experience and we love to prepare meals that are both delicious and nutritionally sound.

Each meal is made from scratch in camp from top quality fresh ingredients – as many of which as possible are from the Alberni Valley, where we live in the Spring and Summer.

We don’t worry about weight of our food when we kayak so we bring out lots of fruit and vegetables, including a watermelon!

It is easy for us to accommodate a wide variety of diets, including vegetarian and vegan diets as well those with food allergies and intolerances. We practice Food Safe procedures and make sure to not use cutting boards and kitchen utensils used to make the vegetarian and meat dishes. If a guest has an anaphylactic food allergy, we quarantine the kitchen and educate the other guests to eliminate contamination sources.

One of our multiple trip guests posted an interesting article about how we handled a celiac diet.

One of the compliments we often receive is how much our guests like our cutlery, dishes and cookware. We use top-quality Caphalon pots which are a joy to cook with and help hold the heat of our meals. Our cutlery is by Browne and is lovely to eat with. Even our plates from Zac designs add to the culinary experience. All of these details help us deliver wonder meals to our guests.
